Abuse Resources

This McMinnville, Oregon Organization provides free help and resources for Domestic Violence. They also offer free support groups for Domestic Violence (Tuesday nights), and there is a combined Thursday night support group for adults who were molested as children and those who have been sexually assaulted.

The services Henderson House provides are unique in the whole Pacific Northwest! I have found no other free resources like this in Portland, Salem, or surrounding areas. Support group members who have moved from the area report great difficulty in locating similar groups. We are lucky to have them just a few blocks from St. James.

On a Grief to Grace retreat you will find a safe place to
share your story, explore the impact of abuse in your life,
encounter Jesus, and begin the process of healing.

Retreatants are provided with educational materials and tools that allow them to assess the type and severity of abuse in their lives. They walk through stories from the Bible and encounter Jesus along the way. He is certainly present.

Grief to Grace is a Catholic ministry that welcomes those from all faiths (or no faith). Retreats are held in Oregon each September, they provide a safe, confidential environment for exploring the wounds of abuse. More information can be found through these links:

Rachel's Vineyard Ministries provide weekend retreats for post-abortion healing. This information is being provided because studies show there is a correlation between abortion and sexual abuse. Rachel's Vineyard retreats allow participants to tell their story in a safe environment and begin the healing process through activities that address their emotional and spiritual needs. Rachel's Vineyard retreats welcome women and men who experience negative symptoms regarding pregnancy losses. In addition to abortion, some retreatants have had miscarriages or pregnancy losses from the use of contraceptives; some are grandparents; and some are siblings, who might experience survivor guilt. Retreatants are surrounded with tender, loving care for the whole weekend.
Rachel's Vineyard is a Catholic ministry that welcomes people of all faiths (or no faith) to the retreats.
